Portage Lake Bible Camp was host Shiver on The River steelhead camp. I fished jigs on spinning tackle under a bobber. Had to leave the dam at 5:00Pm to make it to supper on time and Sunday didn't get on the water till after 12:00 noon so 3 short days. Friday Afternoon tried jigs down at the lower end of the pool and hooked 3 fish on 3 different color jigs. Landed a steelhead and a skipper.
Saturday was crowded and I could only get in as the last man at the bottom of the hole where I quickly hooked 3. Landed the first one but broke second two off. Much later I hooked another right against the coffer, he then went straight up and over it. Al those fish hit a Little Brown jig. Also got a skipper on the Pink Head Olive that took one fish yesterday.
Sunday couldn't do anything on jigs. I moved up near the top of the hole in faster deeper water and using the center pin and beads, I started hooking fish on a 10 mm Orange Candy Corn glow bead. Only landed one skipper. One hot silver fish sprinted straight our across the surface then ran straight toward me and got of a second after i got the tension back on him. Almost at dark I got a steelhead. Counting the skipper that worked out to 2 for 6. That last fish was hooked on top of the head, never seen that before. Maybe he laid over on his side to pick the bead up off the bottom or maybe I just snagged him.
